Objective: To design and build the most efficient robot for both an autonomous and a manually controlled competition.
Responsibilities & Collaboration:
Through my involvement in the Robotics Club, I’ve been exposed to a variety of complex projects ranging from the suspension of the tank to the geometry of the clamping arm. For all of these projects, I worked with a team of equally enthusiastic individuals to achieve the best result possible. We received little help from teachers as these clubs were student-led, which allowed us to build-up our own creativity, problem solving, and critical thinking skills.
Outcomes:
Through the robotics club, I learned and practiced a variety of technical skills. We had a small team, which meant that we each got to work on every aspect of the robot. By the end, I was experienced with SolidWorks, C++, sizing a motor, and assembling a robot. Along with the technical skills that I acquired, I also learned project management, efficient communication, proper documentation, and the importance of collaborating with others.
